Opposing sides in any debate, as of late, have adopted the tactic of not responding to their opponent's contentions so as not to legitimize their line of reasoning. Instead of reasoned debate were left with gainsay and the simple expedient of demonizing the other side. It's far easier to paint the others as evil than to understand their position and debate point by point. Even then, if the intent is to win an argument rather than to seek truth the ensuing debate will not help advance the cause, whatever it may be. This lack of an honest truth seeking debate has adversely affected land development. Neither side of the debate can lay claim to the high ground as they've both used hyperbole and invective to characterize those across the aisle. As they've been staking out positions further away from each other they've left the middle wide open. Make no mistake, the middle road is in no way, shape, or form a hybrid of the two positions. It understands and appreciates its market and rejects the condescension that has been heaped upon them. It seeks to understand 'why'. It defines the problem clearly and then goes to work. While the partisans are busy sifting through the ashes of the last battle it is entirely possible for a charge to be made down the middle by those they've ignored. This series of posts will now segue into the EX,DX,LX and Eco Deco discussions where I will detail how this research has influenced my designs.
